Welcome to the CSAA blog!
We are so excited that you are interested in the CSAA program at UGA! Hopefully you're working hard on getting your application in soon as the deadline is quickly approaching. As you start putting the final touches on your application we wanted to give you a snapshot of the current CSAA program.
A short intro about myself, I'm Dani I am a first year here at UGA and I currently work at the University of North Georgia- Gainesville as the Graduate Assistant in the Dean of Students Office. I work primarily with leadership programs and initiatives. I am originally from a small town right outside of Philadelphia, PA and traveled down south for college. Before coming to UGA I went to Appalachian State University where I got my BS in Communication Studies. Go Apps!

Well its Thanksgiving break here at UGA so most of the students have headed home to spend the holiday with friends and family before coming back for finals! One of the points of pride of the CSAA program that I wanted to share with you was the cohort design. The cohort system is designed so that when you enter into the program you take classes for two years with the same individuals. This allows us to get perspectives from so many different people with various backgrounds/experiences, while being able to learn and grow together during that time.
I am a part of the first year cohort along with 21 other students and I can say that this past semester has definitely been a whirlwind. I cannot believe that our first semester of grad school is almost over! We have already learned so much about student affairs like, what theories of student development are, what working in a group truly means, and even ways to best help our students in times of need. I have honestly loved having a cohort to learn with, build friendships with and to explore Athens with!

Heres a snapshot of a few of the students from both cohorts!
We are all right now working on finishing up a few more projects before the end of the semester, but I know all of us are excited to have a little bit of a break before jumping back into everything. Our second year cohort has a group of18 students who are all getting ready to start job searching since graduation will be here before they know it! The second-years have really helped all of us first-years and have given us plenty of advice and guidance throughout this first semester.
Throughout the next few months you are going to hear from students from both cohorts. They are going to take time to share their experiences within their cohorts and give you some tips for preparing for your visit to UGA!
Well I hope you have a great break and keep a lookout for new blog posts soon!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Dani
